"You do not see monuments to Hitler in Germany"-

For anyone who has visited or was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany there is one impressive monument to Hitler and the NAZI party.  It has been over the years been seen in pre-war newsreels and other documentaries during the NAZI era.

This monument was the scene of many NAZI gatherings.  Post war, a section contained the offices of an American Army battalion.   I visited there many times on inspection visits.

The monument?  It was name pre-war Zeppelin Field.  It stands as an imposing stadium.

Now, a new edition of 'Mein Kampf' is being issued, while in this country there is now undergoing a suppression of a period of its past.  And in a nation that advocates to the world that free expression of ideas and opinions are allowed.  While other nations are facing their past there are those here who would suppress it.

What next, suppress the fact that our ancestors engaged in ethnic cleansing by attempted annihilation of those Native Americans who resided here?

We are experiencing complete hypocrisy in our nation.

This is probably the smartest and safest way to rid this country of racist symbols.  These things belong in museums in rooms dedicated to a very dark and hate filled time in this country's history, not out on the streets to be glorified.  You do not see monuments to Hitler in Germany--it is illegal there to give a Nazi salute or brandish a swastika.  So it should be here.Hatred should never be glorified.

Gee, I miss having a real President!!

Baltimore hauls away four Confederate monuments after overnight removal

Crews removed Baltimore’s Confederate statues early Wednesday, days after the deadly unrest in Charlottesville instigated by white nationalists rallying to defend a downtown Confederate monument.

The quiet and sudden removal of four monuments, with little fanfare and no advance notice, marks an attempt by the city to avoid a long, bruising conflict that has embroiled Charlottesville and other communities rethinking how they honor figures who fought to preserve slavery.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine E. Pugh (D) announced Monday she was in talks with contractors to haul away the statues, and the city council approved a removal plan that night. Some activists had vowed to destroy the monuments before government could act.

Photos and video posted on social media Wednesday morning showed crews using cranes to remove statues of Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson, hauled away on a flatbed truck. Statues honoring Confederate women and Roger B. Taney, the former chief justice who authored the notorious proslavery Dred Scott decision, were also removed.
