Trump is clearly a pathological liar, who's enabled by the sad scenario of his supporters living in an alternate reality where facts aren't facts. When Trump lies, his supporters believe every word, while the rest of us are incredulous that the President of the United States is a serial liar and how so many can't see what's obvious to the rest of us.

Lk-Yes, I heard discussions of Trump's "unfavorably during the primaries. It has long been known he's nonmore than sn lver blown wind bag with no moral compass.

Donald's business strategy, as the book said, is bluff. Is he now bluffing  with North Korea? This incompetent fool could easily start another world war, never having a clue beforehand what he is doing!

pc6063, again you hit it right on the nose about Donald Trump. I read his book The Art of the Deal almost thirty years ago in the late 1980s when it came out. I thought it was the most self serving book I ever read. His "art of the deal" was to bluff and intimidate the other person to get what The Donald wanted.

Donald Trump views "deals" as a zero-sum game with one side winning and the other side losing. That might make someone a lot of money, but not much respect or friends. It also creates a pack of jackals hiding in the brush waiting for the lion to show any signs of weakness before they pounce. Donald Trump surrounds himself with syncophants who bow down to his commands and wishes. He has a reputation of firing anyone who disagrees with him or questions what he wants to do. That attitude has led to some of his businesses going bankrupt.

But after a forty year career in outside sales, business deals are "win-win" where both sides walk away with what they want. The salesman gets a client and a sale while the customer gets something that they want or need at a price they can agree upon. That is what I learned in business is that a win-win method of dealing creates loyal and satisfied clients and customers who will give you referrals and come back for additional sales.

Donald Trump should have gone out of business back in the early 1990s when his marriage fell apart with his philandering and his casino misadventure (that he did against the advice of his advisors, who he fired). But somehow his "brand" survived only to see further business ventures fail miserably; the Trump shuttle, Trump steaks, Trump Vodka and of course Trump University.

I have a cousin who has lived in New York for almost fifty years. Back in the early 1990s she married a man whose family has been involved in New York real estate for generations. He is also involved in New York real estate and my cousin obtained her real estate license when she got married. I had a conversation with both of them a year ago Christmas when they made a visit to Ohio.

I asked them about Donald Trump since he was a canddiate for President and was generating a lot of interest. I got an earful. According to my cousin's husband, Donald Trump is despised by the New York real estate community. He is regarded as the most corrupt, unethical and crooked person in New York. I was told that the banks in New York will not lend to him because of his business bankruptcies. Contractors will not work for him or his businesses because of his record of stiffing contractors on his projects. Apparently Donald Trump hires a lot of immigrants as employees. Whether many of them are illegal is subject to speculation; but for most hourly jobs at his Trump Tower and other properties, it is mostly immigrant labor that does the work.

Rumors were circulating long before his candidacy for President that Donald Trump was indebted to Russian banks with close ties to Vladimir Putin to the tune of hundreds of million dollars. One thing that I have learned was where there is smoke, there is fire and I believe that all this will erupt into a wildfire very soon. Speculation is rife that the major reason why Donald Trump has refused to release his tax returns is that it would expose his indebtedness to Russia and that he hardly pays any taxes as well as he is not as wealthy as he seems to be.

The problem is that for his entire life Donald Trump has lived in a bubble created by his family and his ego. He surrounds himself with yes men and syncophants and fires anyone who disagrees with him. Rather than constantly lying, it is perhaps that in Trump's world, he cannot recognize what it true and what is false.

As long as he was a private business person and reality television celebrity, he could get away with such bombast and lying. But when one is President of the United States, you are living in a fishbowl with everything you say and do under intense media scrutiny. The attention as well as the constant pressures of being President will expose any character flaws and mental defects in a person.

Even someone with extensive experience in politics like Richard Nixon had his character and mental issues exposed when he was President. But Nixon had "political capital" and had served in elected office off and on since 1946 when he became President in 1969. After all he spent eight years as Eisenhower's Vice President. But his flaws and personality defects became readily apparent durnig the Watergate scandal and eventually it brought him down.

Donald Trump lacks any of the experience or political capital that Nixon had. Nor is Donald Trump that popular with a lot of Republicans. It would be much easier for Republicans in congress to turn against Donald Trump than it was to turn against Richard Nixon.

Eventually it is the character of the person that either elevates them to prominence or brings them down from power. In Donald Trump's case, the fall will be swift and ugly and the ending will be a Shakespearian tragedy of epic proportions.

In the Art of the Deal, Trump talks about hyperbolic exaggeration, which means he's lying. He's been doing it all his life- hire someone --sure I'll pay you --he doesn't

marry someone-- till death do us part --well unless something better comes along

He lied his way all through the campaign

I know more than the generals (  must be they knew nothing at all )

The Russians aren't invading Crimea ( they were already there)

I'm really smart ( yes if you're comparing me to a newborn child)

I will build a wall and Mexico will pay for it (ya had to be as stupid as he is to believe that one)

Yup,LK, a lie, is a lie, is a lie , and Trump is the biggest liar of all.

Gee, I miss having a real President!!

ed, so what does anyone's marital problems and infidelities have to do with his credibility? If that is the measure, then perhaps Donald Trump cannot be trusted since he has been married three times and when his first two marriages broke up, The Donald was having affairs with his next wife. Donald Trump treats his wives like a car. When they get too many miles on them, he trades them in for a newer (younger) model.

Q: What does Melainia Trump feel when she goes to bed at night?

A: Old age creeping up on her.

OK, seriously folks; what is perhaps more damaging with this from Australia is what follows the comments on Trump. From the column:

urging Australia to reduce its dependence on the US alliance and accept China as a legitimate "global rule maker".

"In the case of China, it means essentially recognising the legitimacy of China's claims to be a global rule maker and not just rule taker, and to have some strategic space of its own," he contended, warning that the re-emerged superpower was sensitive to policies intended to contain it.

However, he said Australia should not be Beijing's "patsy", and should make it clear that China should not abuse human rights or overreach in the South China Sea.

If you want to decide if people are being truthful or not based on their personal lives, that is up to you.  But, please refresh my memory.  How many times has President Trump been married and why did his marriages break up?  Do you still believe what he has to say?

World leaders and International press are not intimidated by Donald - and that may drive him nuts, because he can't deal with those that he can't intimidate or bully.

From Austrailia today:   Mr Evans labelled Mr Trump as "manifestly the most ill-informed, under-prepared, ethically challenged and psychologically ill-equipped president in US history".http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/the-most-illinformed-underprepared-and-psychol...

     From England:

British spies were first to spot Trump team's links with Russia    (in 2015).

GCHQ first became aware in late 2015 of suspicious “interactions” between figures connected to Trump and known or suspected Russian agents, a source close to UK intelligence said. This intelligence was passed to the US as part of a routine exchange of information, they added.

Over the next six months, until summer 2016, a number of western agencies shared further information on contacts between Trump’s inner circle and Russians, sources said.   (guardian).

Now more News in the US are writing articles on the same information.    and their circulation is up because of their improved journalism.

What you cannot deny, however, is that Trump has lied again and again since the beginning of his presidency. Along with his lies, he finds it part of his mission to denounce the press - the truthseekers - at every turn. The job of the media is to report the truth to the public. If Trump calls them "the enemy of the people" with no true basis in fact, it says much more about him than it ever does against the press. In the Charles Blow article that lk152 linked to, Blow hits on the real issue well. "Trump is in a battle to bend the truth to his benefit."
