Canada, in general, has been benefiting from the Trump assault on immigration.  Highly educated and motivated individuals who had originally intended to land in the United States are being welcomed with open arms in Canada.  We know that immigrants start more businesses and demand better education for their children. They also have been providing the physicians, engineers, and chemists the United States desperately needs as a result of our "starve the teacher" policies. Those skill sets are also being diverted to Canada.

Important to note-in all your accolades you simply mention immigrants. You did not state what illegal immigrants...if any in Canada are achieving.

Actually, "illegal immigrants are a non-issue in this".  But ....... since you brought it up ...... I do have to add that if America stays in it's downward spiral Illegal immigrants will be coming into America with better educations than Americans have.

Toronto is the bomb. Well, other than the traffic. But it’s beautiful, people are nice, and housing is way cheaper.  Yet another place we lose our smart, talented workers to.

I would love to retire there.  My sun-loving, snow-phobic husband would never go for it, though.

It's not JUST Der Trumper, it the entire Republican agenda that is driving educated people out of America.  Canada had 722 gun deaths in 2018 vs 30,000 in the US, they rank higher in the quality of their health care, and EVERYBODY is covered, their k-12 schools are much better and the cost of a college education is about 60% of what it costs in the USA. Best of all, NO REPUBLICANS trying to divide the Nation for political gain.

Yes, even the techies and the associated entreprenuers are not going to SF, aka Silicon Valley, they are going north of the US border.

Software developers, engineers and programmers grew by more than half between 2012 and 2017, according to CBRE, the commercial real estate firm. The 82,100 technology jobs it added over that period made it North America’s fastest-growing tech centre, CBRE calculated, to the surprise of many south of the border.

As reported by Financial Times - yes kiddies, elections do have consequences and what has happened is the Big Chill on well educated / trained techies are not going to the US, aka The Big Chill - brought to you by donald.     I suppose his mystical 6G network dream  will come from Canada, not US.
