AOC's Blowout Win

New York's 14th District:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez vs Michelle Caruso-Cabrera

AOC: "Wall Street is pouring millions of dollars to unseat me in this Tuesday's election. That's what happens when you put people before profit."

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera - CNBC journalist received campaign donations from executives from Wall Street Financials and other big businesses. She was also funded by an anti-AOC Super PAC.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rose to prominence in 2018 after shocking the political class with an insurgent run that beat the fourth-most powerful Democrat in the House at the time, Joseph Crowley, who had all the establishment support.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez once again ran a grassroots campaign with No corporate donations.

Results:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - 73%

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera - 19%

The race between Engel and Bowman caught my interest not because AOC endorsed Bowman, but it was when Nancy Pelosi endorsed Engel immediately afterward.

Pelosi endorsed Engel because she wants to maintain the status quo.

Pelosi is a hardcore capitalist.

AOC wants to tax each dollar earned over 10 million at the rate of about 70%.

In her heart, AOC seems aware Pelosi has got nothing in common with people like her and the people she (AOC) represents.

AOC got elected with money from little people.
Pelosi and the DNC gets lots of money from giant corporations.

Referring to AOC and The Squad, Nancy Pelosi once said “All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world." She's gone on to dismiss them by stating that they don't have a following. "They're just four votes".
Pelosi also discredited the Green New Deal, a major agenda for Ocasio-Cortez by referring to it as the "green dream or whatever they call it".

Remember when the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) made a new rule to blacklist and boycott anyone who does business with "primary challengers"?

It was AOC who said "My recommendation, if you’re a small-dollar donor: pause your donations to DCCC & give directly to swing candidates instead." She can say that because she is not dependent on big corporate donations and the Party establishment.

We now suffer an extreme inequality not witnessed since before the Great Depression.

It's easy for middle class and upper middle class Americans to dismiss AOC and her ideas. Her ideas benefit the poor. When you look at today's headlines, the protests, the riots, they're mostly coming from the inner city. They are the ones who have been ignored and AOC has given a voice to them.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren praised freshman congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a piece for Time magazine’s 2019 list of the “100 most influential people” in the world.
In the short article, Warren praised AOC for giving a voice to those she fears the government has wilfully forgotten.
Describing the financial struggles faced by Ocasio-Cortez’s family after her father’s death in 2008, Warren wrote:
“She watched as our government bailed out Wall Street while it ignored families like hers. She learned the hard way that in America today, Washington protects the powerful while leaving hardworking people behind.
“A year ago, she was taking orders across a bar. Today, millions are taking cues from her. She reminds all of us that even while greed and corruption slow our progress, even while armies of lobbyists swarm Washington, in our democracy, true power still rests with the people.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also serves as an inspiration for many young women.

  I look forward to fresh ideas and little baggage ( aka big donors).   These are the people that lobbyists hate, as AOC documented during her orientation when she showed up 2 years ago.

   Reminder:  some GOP guy co-signed a piece of legislation, but when push came to shove, aka a Vote, he voted no, he admitted that he had been contacted by WH.

Yep, AOC angers the deep pockets. That's why the big guns are out to get her.

Elizabeth Warren wrote a revealing book about the behind-the-scenes deal making in Washington.

The book was called "A Fighting Chance."

In it she talks about money in politics.

From her book...

Elizabeth Warren: "As summer wore on, the hallways got more and more crowded with lobbyists -- and I mean that literally.
The halls in congress are wide and gracious, my colleague Dan and I would often have to step to the side with our backs against the wall while a herd of bank lobbyists thundered down the corridor.
They were easy to spot: a group of a dozen or more men and maybe one or two women in the mix, all wearing custom-tailored suits.
They walked with a bounce in their step as they spoke with great assurance about their 'counts' and which member of congress was on their list."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elizabeth Warren: "According to one source, the financial industry was spending more than $1 million a day on lobbying and campaign contributions during their drive to kill any meaningful financial reform.
I still wonder how such a thing is possible.
In addition to all the lobbying money, the industry was ponying up huge contributions for the reelection campaigns of influential members of Congress.
Consider the House Financial Services Committee. That committee had 71 members. Why so many?
One congressman explained it in simple terms: 'It's a great place for a congressman to raise money. The banks pay.'
Do they ever."
Good point. Can't 'always', but often does.
   That should send shivers down the spine of those who want to buy DC.
   What some here seem not to grasp is that DC needs fresh perspective.   I retired in an attempt to get out of the way for the future managers.    It did not work out that way, and 4 years later there was a coup.
