Three more cheers for AOC! Now if she'd follow thru and change the policy for the House that those wanting to attend a session be given a number and have a picture taken so only those where number and picture match be admitted.

AOC Peeling Congressional Onion-Incumbents Should GO

This is just one more reason the Freshman Class of the 2019 Congress are so IMPORTANT

1. Most of the Rookies are Woman

2. Most are Committed to Exposing then Fighting the - Good Ole Boy/Woman Both Democratic & Republican Kleptocracy that exists in Congress

Here's the latest EXAMPLE - Lobbyists - Many Former Government Officials - pay Poor People some who are Homeless People they find on the Streets outside Congress

They pay these people to show up early outside Committee Hearing Rooms & Stand in Line for hours ACTING AS - Place Holders - for Lobbyists

A few minutes before the doors to the Hearing are Scheduled to Open - remember only a limited number of seats are reserved for the - "Public" - A few minutes before the Hearing Room Doors are scheduled to Open - the Rich Lobbyists and their Entourage show up - throw a few bucks to the Homeless People who have been standing in line sometimes for hours - take their places and go into the Hearing

Democrat & Republican Congress Members Have Been Allowing This Practice to Take Place for Decades and simply turned a Blind Eye because these are the people making them Millionaires

Why is this a Big Issue - Because you the General Public are being prevented & not getting a equal opportuntity to attend these meetings & hearings in Person to see & hear what your own Elected Officials are doing

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) continues to pull back the curtain on what Congress is really like.

On Wednesday, the freshman lawmaker highlighted the way in which lobbyists and others who can afford it pay people — including some who are homeless — to wait in line for them outside committee hearings.

“Shock doesn’t begin to cover it,” tweeted Ocasio-Cortez.

Initially, she wrote, she believed the “tons of people” she saw outside the committee room were part of a demonstration.

But an aide set her straight, explaining how “lobbyists pay the homeless + others to hold their place so they can get in 1st.”

“Apparently this is a normal practice, and people don’t bat an eye,” the congresswoman wrote in a second post.

“The first few people in line are guaranteed a seat in a given hearing,” she added. “This was the hearing for marijuana banking laws. Lobbyists and those who can afford it pay people to hold their spot so they get in 1st.”

CNN reported on the paid place-holding phenomenon back in 2009, noting that line-standers could earn $11 to $35 per hour.

Fellow tweeters thanked Ocasio-Cortez, whose five-minute explainer on the flaws in campaign finance laws went viral last week, for refocusing attention on the practice:
