A QUESTION FOR TRUMP FANS

Can you explain why Trump is refusing to us his power to coordinate the distribution of needed equipment instead of abandoning State to compete against each other?

Oh my, the ignonoble donald supporters are now boxing themselves into their own bs.    If an Automaker wants to help, they are not going to re-make their assembly line, they are offering up floor space for parts to be assembled.    Apparently the big picture requires that one doesn't read any of the fine print.

Interestingly enough, in the name of "capitalism", one automaker said yes, they have assembly space and it will be rented out to assist the FED gov't.    To which donald complained that the offer was too expensive....so now are the RW going to demand that corporations are supposed to do work for FREE without Donald using the authorization that he recently flouted...and then said was not necessary because of all the "offers' by coporations to help with assembly .

Amusingly, one ignoble person must have slipped as they whined about corporations "retooling" and admitted that "time is of the essence"....well except in RED states that are allowing the virus to spread / sans testing.

"President Donald Trump says he’s willing to help blue-state governors who are struggling to contain coronavirus outbreaks — but only if they’re willing to stop criticizing him in exchange.

'It’s a two-way street,' Trump told Fox News on Tuesday. 'They have to treat us well, also. They can’t say, ‘Oh, gee, we should get this, we should get that.’”"

Civility in times of crisis is a good thing. There will be plenty of time for the blame game... later.

Blame is, indeed, assigned after the disaster.  The question here is about the best approach to dealing with the unfolding disaster.  The  Pandemic Playbook created by the National Security Council give a president a complete roadmap of how to respond to exactly this situation.  One of the steps is to release supplies from the National Strategic Stockpile (not yet done either) and to coordinate manufacture and distribution of medical supplies and devices.  Why isn't Trump following the Playbook?

@Fishslayer777

Sure civility is always good...perhaps trump might try it sometime!

But trump supporters don't expect that of him...in fact they cheer when trump berates, belittles, and calls others name.

trump's leadership has been, is, and will be very lacking...it shows, he is no leader!

It's because there's no one left in the Toad Administration with the brains to organize such an effort.

True story: A couple weeks after Pearl Harbor, a young Navy Lt Commander showed up in the head office af a midsized manufacturer of circuit breakers.  He informed the Execs they would begin producing circuit boards for Navy ships and gave schematics of the boards and a monthly production level.

The Execs said "we'll do all we can, but we don't have the equipment for making such boards, nor do we have the capacity to support that level of production."

The Commander told them - "The equipment you require is being shipped here as we speak, as for space to put it, I've leased the bonded warehouse next door for you, and it will be cleared out by the time the equipment arrives."

The Lt Commander was Hyman G. Rickover -  You may have heard of him.

This scene was repeated all across the Nation, with car companies being tasked to produce aircraft and farm impliment factories retooled to make Tanks. THAT is what is possible WITH EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP.  Without leadership - well, that's what we got today - deadly shortages and skyrocketing infection rates.

The GOPers' ToadPOTUS would rather insult Governors who do not praise him and have the audacity to demand he TAKE ACTION instead of wasting all his time attacking celebrities on Twitter and watching the Foxscum faun all over him.

Republicans would rather watch as the Governors fight each other for life saving equipment, and titter with glee as their Toad gives what for to celebrities, organizations and politicians who fail to praise him in childish tweets.

His answer is he's only had to do it 2x so far and the other compaines are cooperating.

My guess ...  economic considerations. Re-tooling is quite expensive and labor intensive. Using Ford Motor Company as an example. ... they build cars and switching to ventilators, for the most part, is bench production not assembly line work.

Isn't it best to get cooperation and convince a company to "throw in" ? with the effort rather than force a company to comply and then drag their feet? With the virus, TIME is of the essence.... so MAKING a company comply is tantamount to making a teenager clean their room and do their homework, on Saturdays without their iphone.

For the economy to hit the ground running, you do not want too many industries converted from their manufacturing discipline.

Need to do a little more research, my friend.

There will be little, if any, retooling. To manufacture masks, ventilators, etc., they need space. If you think they can RETOOL a auto production line into a ventilator line, you are mistaken.

I meant that more in a personal/training sense... not changing out the assembly line equipment. Ventilators are small compared to autos. The auto workers who do the electronics and electrical work would just need assembly training and place to work.

Valid observation

I hope you realize that those reasons aren' valid in light of the situation we're in. No competent president would sit on the sidelines twiddling his thumbs while our medical infrastruce is in such dire need. Please remember that while you're healthy now, YOU may be in an emergency room before it's over being told there's little that can be done because they don't have necessary equipment.

You see where there's a response from the president and my guess? Pay attention.

I actually do see the big picture because I'm not blinded with hate. Unfortunately anything that our president does or has done is still classified as "orange man bad". That is insane and totally absurd.

You opinion has no validity when the prism is hate filled and passed through the TDS filter.
