So true.

The election of Donald has been a windfall for the Democrats / Hispanic population in TX.   They now realize what they had long taken for granted as election malaise.     Each time Donald or the GOP in Austin take action, it just increases the justified outrage.    There are lawsuits that have already been filed re:  SB4....regardless of what some will say.

A LONG HISTORY OF AN ANTI-LATINO CULTURE IN TEXAS

Message 2 of 2

As we all know, the new TEXAS law, SB4, the "show me your papers" law was recently passed. It will allow arbitrary policing of Latinos which will inevitably lead to discrimination.

But we shouldn't be surprised.

TEXAS has a long history of anti-Latino sentiment.

Signs used to be posted at many restaurants and retailers that said, "WE SERVE WHITES ONLY; NO SPANISH AMERICANS".

Between 1848 and 1928, over 232 Latinos were killed by mob violence or lynchings. Some of the lynchings were even carried out by..... you guessed it.....TEXAS LAW ENFORCEMENT (Texas Rangers).

More recently, TEXAS  tried to control the LATINO vote as they are becoming quite a large constituency. TEXAS had a voter ID law in place that was then struck down by the higher courts.

With Mexican Americans in TEXAS since the beginning, would it surprise you to know that Mexican American Studies has NOT been an educational elective until 2015. That's a couple of hundred years of TEXAS school systems practicing the INSTITUTIONAL RACISM at which they are so skilled.

Once again, the INSTITUTIONAL RACISM that permeates TEXAS culture lands TEXAS in the National News.
