The fear mongers have many believing that a "Medicare for all" (HR 676) or a single payer national health care plan would be 'socialism'. Of course the 'fear mongers' have many believing all kinds of bull. 70% of Americans aren't so gullible this time.

It's not "fear mongers", it is "truth speakers". The government taking over 1/6th of the economy and controlling something so important as the health care of all citizens would certainly be "socialistic".

Glad you got in your "socialistic" erroneous scare term.  70% of Americans aren't so gullible this time.

I'm glad you're glad, but what does that mean?

Unbelievable! How is Single Payer going to hurt the elderly? They already have a single payer system and they love it.

Not quite as complete as some seniors want it.

Let's see - Original Medicare has no vision, no dental, no hearing

There is those pesky deductibles, copays and coinsurance in Part D - even for some preventive immunizations.

Unless you have a supplemental that picks up the remaining 20% of Medicare Cost, it is out of pocket  - a lot of seniors cannot afford those supplementals.

There are also dollar or other limits on certain type services.

Part A (HI)  is going broke -

Part B (SMI) beneficiary premiums are going up and will continue to do so - they are based on Part B useage.

Is this similar to what you are looking for in a single payer system????

Long Term Care has been removed from the concept - so we will still have a Medicaid coverage for this for needy seniors that meet the eligibility.  Everybody else will pay - just like now.

Gail, you full well know that "Medicare For All" is a catch phrase for a universal health care system.  HR 676 is a national health care bill that's been around for years and can be read in it's entirety. It is not just like Medicare, yet similar, and it has been termed "Medicare For All".

Congress could construct a universal health care plan replacing all government health care plans, including the ones that now cover seniors (Medicare), military health care (both retired and active), government workers (retired and working), Medicaid recipients, state workers (retired and active, etc.  A universal health care plan would eliminate the cost of all of these plans, a single payer plan would cover everyone, cradle to grave. And yes, it could be written to cover long term care and even nursing home care.  There could be co-pays far smaller than many if not most private and employee based health care plans. Single payer plans reduce the cost of health care, that's a reality. We are presently in the worst company in the world being without a universal health care plan.

Yep - there's that deranged and delusional "socialism" monster hiding under the bed that makes deranged and delusional rightwing crackpots soil their knickers.

However - that's not a problem for sane, rational, and logical humans who want whatever works best for the most reasonable cost.

The majority of American Citizens recognize that fringe rightwingers - the same halfwitted borderline treasonous fools and dolts who voted for trump - appear to be - well - a couple of bubbles off of plumb...

Ya just cant fix the kind of stupid that voted for trump and still supports him after the treasonous surrender at Helsinki...

Your right, she won the election, just not the electoral college, so she SHOULD be President.

Relax - all you have to do is get all Rs out, set up your new one Party neoMarxist government and I'm sure they will dispose of that pesky ol' Constitution.

The only opposition is from the far far right who prefer the poor and their children just sicken and die like Nature intended.

That is a very childish and offensive claim. What is wrong with Medicaid taking care of the poor and their children.

Nothing. Why has every elected Republican devoted their time in office to finding ways to REDUCE the care available to the poor from Medicaid and PPACA while cutting taxes for the richest people and Corporations?

Alternately, why have the Dems not proposed it rather than that mess called Obamacare - they had the votes when Obama first went in.
