For those seeing "pay check to pay check" as a result of the free market, the following will show it is a societal problem. Bottom line, the problem appears to be "instant gratification".

Yep, it's a "societal problem" that good jobs have left the United States and the ones that are left here now pay $15.00 to $17.00 an hour. Earning this kind of wages today makes it impossible for a family to purchase a home, save for retirement, pay for their kids clothes and schooling, eat every day, let alone "have an emergency fund".

The "societal problem" is that the average wage hasn't kept up with the cost of living.

Republicans would like you to think if YOU have some benefits from your employer, it's all good. Thing is, those benefits have been taken away more often then they've been added, including benefits you paid for all your working life and then get taken away after you retire.

The difference between us and the rest of the democracies is NONE of those benefits are REQUIRED - it's all up to the employers. While the rest of the world has 100% coverage for pensions, we have 13% of non-Union workers covered. For paid sick leave, it's 65%, for vacation time it's 79%. ALL of those percentages have been declining for the past 20 years - the pension coverage dropped 50% since 1998 as one example of how firm those benefits are.

But what those figures do NOT show is it is the lowest paid who are in the "uncovered" percent - the ones least able to do without are the ones who must do without.

Stop letting Republicans keep you worse off than the citizens of every other Democracy. VOTE DEMOCRATIC!

I don't believe your issue is specifically "Party" but rather ideology. The Rs lean more towards Capitalism where the Dems do not. Capitalism and the free market is the way we operate that you appear to not approve of.

How would you describe an economy that you like?

Richva for shame - exposing the absurdity of Conservative thought in front of all these Seniors! Next thing you'll be wanting people to actually THINK about why we don't have things every citizen of every other Democracy has had for decades, like health care insurance, paid sick and maternity leave, et al.

Our workers don't have that stuff???????

Well said @mandm84. The fact is that Government pension Trust Fund is funded for way past 75 years DESPITE the fact Republicans failed to make the Government's matching contribution for a couple decades.

Providing those benefits for ALL Americans should be our goal, not taking what workers now have in the name of greater income for the ones dividing the profits.

That will be the case once you get your system of government - all will work for the government.

A totally absurd conclusion rk, but the real question is WHO will do the redistribution of income created from the value added during the creation of goods and services.

Progressives know a rational tax structure, providing the revenue needed by Government to build, expand and maintain the best possible infrastructure is the way to go, and cite the actual results of having this system operating from 1945 until 1981 when every generation did better then their predecessor and America's Middle Class was the envy of the World.

You think the Corporate Oligarchs should be the decision makers, just like they've done since 1985 when they realized they could keep all the increase in profits for themselves and real income for the bottom 90% began to shrink while the income for the top 10% skyrocketed until today we have income inequality not seen outside a 3d World kleptocracy.

Not absurd at all. If we do not have the Oligarchs, Plutocrats, Kleptoctats and the rest of your "crats" running things, that leaves the government. Remember, Marx's theory of worker run factories morphed right rapidly into "we the people" running everything and the government became "we the people".

Since you base your theory on "the redistribution of income created from the value added during the creation of goods and services" it does seem like the government "in charge".

So, as I said - fear not, if you get things your way all workers will work for the government and get those benefits that upset some.

That has GOT to be the most RACIST post to ever get posted on this blog!

If the post is accurate then the Nordic nations you want us to emulate must be quite racist.

Is that desperation-fueled misrepresentation?

Or the post is inaccurate in which case pointing that out would be better than simply insulting.

Gonna allege that trump always speaks truthfully? - especially at CPAC?
