I was born in 1939, and have enjoyed these songs since I was old enough to be aware of music. I still think they're great, even though they were written and popular almost 80 years ago.  I wish composers today would listen to these melodic tunes and use them as examples before they write these screeching earache and headache causing things they call music today.  My birth year list, in order from 1-5, are:

Over the Rainbow: Judy Garland

Moonlight Serenade:  Glenn Miller

God Bless America: Kate Smith

Strange Fruit:  Billy Holiday

When the Saints go Marching In:  Louis Armstrong
