@LydiaN586309 - Washboard and tub picture . . . reminds me of my grandmother's wash shed that she used well into the 60's. The wash shed was outside the house located next to the cistern. She had the washboard and tub, a hand-cranked wringer washer, and a rinse tub. If she needed hot water, it had to be heated over a fire and poured into the tub. I remember "helping" her when I was a little girl!

I am going to guess old root Cellars. Which we used to store vegetables and keep them during the winter months.

You are so right n566192l!

And since they don't sew, we know they wouldn't have a clue as to what this is or what it's for:

It's a thimble used for sewing

And you're right most kids today do not sow. All these things were   handcrafted before anything was ordered online

Yes, MaVolta! I used this kind of can opener for years. Had many a sore palm and hand too.

Dear MaVolta,

I'm glad you recognized it.  But what is it?  What is it called?

I'm not sure what they called it, but it was a multi-purpose kitchen tool used as a can opener, bottle opener, cork screw. Mom also used the small end to poke holes in canned milk.
