Good morning, Everybody!

What with the rain and cold and threat of snow, I guess by now we've all been chased inside from off our front porches.  Every day here the weatherman takes to the TV screen with his broad, toothy grin all while gleefully predicting the next storm of rain or snow.  Ugh!  But alas, this is too be expected in winter even if we're supposed to be yet in Fall.

I had been waiting for a warmer and drier day to rake the leaves, but now I think I've missed my window as we've been warned that inches, not just a dusting, of snow is on it's way and may even be upon us.  I won't know what is outside until I leave work in the next hour or so.  Crossing my fingers, toes, and eyes that the weather-watcher, grinchy, forecaster proves untrue.  I'm already jonesing for the rays and heat of summer and we all know that now is months away.

@DaveMcK  I loved you colorful Halloween pics.  But since...... Image result for animated halloween

Halloween is over and the goblins have all been pacified and satisfied with bags and pillowcases full of candies and treats, I guess the sellers of goods will now press us all toward the next big holiday--Thanksgiving and even onward to Christmas as I've seen how Home Depot has already fully decorated with Christmas items for sale.  Every season and holiday it seems is pushed into the next.  And while some people may say they can't wait, I just want to slow down a bit and just kinda mosey into my remaining days.  Time seems to be going way too fast as it is.  So I am more inclined to just ooze through my days as much as life and my own To Do List will let me.  Smile.

@Frozenoem, I hope and pray you are set for winter with enough wood, supplies, and whatever other comforts you may need to get through.  I hope sooner than later the doctors find out what ails you and can do something to help alleviate your discomforts.  In the meantime, stay warm and dry.

@catwoman500,  I loved your little cartoons.  Funny! And would have loved to seen you in your skelton earrings.  Although, honestly I probably would have thought you just a wee bit strange and only observed you from a distance off to the side.

@n566192l, I hope the solution given resolves your bomber bird situation before they crack a window.  And @LaDolceVita I hope you can find a good respite for your momma so you can do a little R & R on you!

And as for me,  I'll be winging my way home soon and when I get there, I intend to...

Good morning to everyone on the Front Porch on this snow covered Tuesday 2019. We had our first snow fall late last night and early this morning which amounted to about 4" of very fluffy snow. It is projected to be mostly melted by sundown to night. The melted snow will be the needed moisture our 120 new flowering bulbs will need to get ready to bloom next Spring.

Hoping everyone has a great day today.

Dave,

I know I need new glasses, but I can see the pictures . I did see snow, in the pictures. Great pictures ❣️ each and every one of them.

I do have a question for you anyone, who thinks they may be able to help me.

Here goes, over the past few days, tiny birds have been hitting my glasses window. There's no cats in the area, my windows are not to clean. Lol any ideas on how to make this stop. I am afraid my dogs are going to hurt the stunned birds.

Just raining here and maybe for days. I didn't forget about the boxes, I was in the hospital for a few days. New medication just didnot work out. So, I have to try another one. Also, I am trying to re home my 3 🐕. Working to get them placed before I have another surgery on Dec 6.  Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your day. I can't believe some of you have snow. Please stay safe and warm and dry.

Dave,

Thanks for the great information about how to stop the birds from hitting my windows.

Lyndia, great pictures ❣️ each and everyone of them.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your day.

Frozen, I hope you are feeling better soon. Thanks, for sharing the great news about Chelli. I am so happy she is doing well and enjoying her new home. I know it was a very hard decision for you. The same decision, I am facing right now. Take care of yourself, my friend. I will send you a box soon. I'm sure the weather in Maine will not change that much.

Happy Halloween, All!

More snow @DaveMcK ???? Holy cow!

Here in the burbs we had drizzle all day yesterday and today will be worse. Doesn't make for a good trick or treating night. The only good thing is that it will be around 72!

Earlier today I decided to treat myself to Starbucks and then stop at Wendy’s to get a taco salad for an easy dinner later since the kids start coming around 6:00. I went out in the midday lunch rush…12:00 and there was no one in line at Starbucks and no one in line at Wendy’s. I was so surprised. When I said, “Happy Halloween” to the barista, she said, “oh, yeah, Happy Halloween” like it wasn’t even on her radar. Same thing at the Wendy’s window. Weird! It was almost like it wasn't Halloween. Plus I have on my skeleton earrings that are about 4 inches long and hardly subtle, and green glow in the dark nail polish. I always get a reaction with the earrings, but just crickets today. Maybe I'm in the Twilight Zone? N

Anyway, have a safe Halloween!

59* and clouding up, bought candy for little blighters🤣, tonight promises to be a roll of the dice.

High wind warnings of up to 50-60 mph, same as tomorrow night.

No snow here, just rain although I know it's probably coming soon. 20* overnight temps are on the way. With warm daytime temps.

Time to play and make some calls.

Hi, everyone. Happy two days before Halloween or Happy Halloween Eve Eve.

Cannot believe you have snow already, @DaveMcK , but then again I remember several years ago we almost didn't have Halloween because we had a blizzard type event and lost power for a couple of days right before Halloween.

Today I had some friends over for bagels and coffee. They came to see my dolls all dressed for Fall and Halloween. They brought the bagels and spreads and I supplied the coffee and a fruit salad.

It meant the house had to be neat and clean, so I spent a lot of time getting ready and now I'm good to go for the holidays. No major or heavy stuff left to do; just normal cleaning.

It's kind of rainy today, but mild. The bad news is that Halloween is looking to be rain most of the day. Cat Sad Poor kids!

Happy Haunting! N.

Good morning, Front Porch Peepers!

Undoubtedly, we are now in the full swing of Fall.  But the only problem is, we are almost as swiftly moving at break-neck speed into Winter.  As fast as the leaves turn color, they fall to the ground.  For many, snow has already arrived and even though it may have been short lived,  weathermen and women all over the country seem almost giddy in their predictions of more of the white fluff to come.

Anyway,  regardless of future prophecies of the harshnesses of Winter to come, right now I am enjoying colors of the trees and the Fall season--no matter how brief it may be.

By the way, @catwoman500 , glad you got your Spring cleaning done this Fall.  So you're that much more ahead come March.  lol  Also, I enjoyed your recounting of having friends over for fruit salad and bagels and coffee.  But next time, I highly recommend...Image result for coffee and donuts sayings

my favorite--coffee with donuts!    Can't ever go wrong with that!  Ummmmm, Good!  Ahhhhhhhh!

Last but NOT least, it is the last day of October and it is also the favorite kiddie day of Fall--Halloween!  So to all those youngins out there (whether young in age or young at heart), I am wishing one and all a.................

Good morning,

@Frozenoem, Just  read you went over 20 hours without coffee,  Must have been awful.  @n566192l  So sorry you are having continued health problems.  I have not had an opportunity to read this board for a while!

No good news from me either.  Mom calling me from upstairs every 15 minutes during the day for the last 7 days or so.  I use the lift chair now to go up and down much of the time because the situation is so out of control.  The last 2 nights she started calling me in the middle of the night 2 to 3 times per night.

I am thankful for good health so that I can keep up this schedule.  I really have to talk to myself not do get too far down mentally.   I try to keep in mind that this is the new normal, have to get used to it.  Still do not know if mom's companion will be returning to help out in some capacity.  Probably will not know until the middle of December when her 90 days of rehab that Medicare allows will be over.  I hope I can hang on and not go crackers till then.  If it is determined that companion cannot return I can look at moving to homestead sooner than expected.

49* cloudy and looking forward to a warm up for 2 days.

@LaDolceVita

I've been there when I lived in cabin 1997-2000, my mother came to live with wife , 2 dogs and me.

For our sanity sometimes I had a CNA or Aide stay with mother when I needed to finish closing in cabin. Cutting firewood or chinking. Or doing the 7 hour trip down to check on sister (cancer), bro-in-law (dropped 40feet from staging to concrete), etc. And their daughters. He lived , sister didn't.

Medicare/Medicaid/insurance does/did cover Visiting Nurses Association and Aides if you do have them where you live. And other options when you need to be 6 places at once.

Call around you may get find some respite. We certainly needed to.

Re: Bird strikes on glass what worked for me was trimming vegetation back, both at house and camp.

Low e glass reflects less and screens covering entire windows with a gap of 2" beneath so they could bounce unharmed or at least recover before flying away unharmed.

Doubt if that totally makes sense for an explanation so, a link.

Morning Tuesday 48* cloudy and looks like it will stay in 40's, with a warm up for 2 more days😇.

Which I hope to take advantage of. Have marine epoxy standing by for tomorrow, and a garage door.

Today is merely uploading more tunes to phone from external hard drives.Creedence, Queen, Iron Butterfly and Doobie Bro's, seem to counteract my balance issues. Or at least some of their songs, tend to vibrate bones in ear for better.

Now coffee is calling.

Good morning, Peepers!

Fall is in full swing and I am loving it! The leaves have turned all colors--red, orange, yellow, pinkish-red.  Beautiful!  Nature's last burst before the sleep of winter overtakes.  Every season has it's own bit of glory and "color" is the glory of Fall.

So now that I have waxed philosophic....

62* and sunny, my disposition for the moment had major storm clouds roll through.

WTFoxtrot no coffee for 20 hours tests, no food, basically no nothing.

Had to cancel 2-hours out from my long awaited specialist and re-schedule. Driver didn't show for 2-hour ride, each way.

Someone got a small taste of a highly agitated (moi) 15 months waiting for appointment and 30-day booking for car, least they could do is show at appointed hour.

Back to waiting, coffee lamp is back on for another week. Honestly feel like I'm down a quart and need refilling ASAP.

Had to go to the Dollar Store today to get some extra Tootsie Pops to make sure I have enough for the Trick or Treaters. So many Christmas items already displayed! Between the retailers and the Hallmark channel pushing the season, it's no wonder we have no holiday spirit when the holidays finally roll around.  It's nuts thatThanksgiving is all but forgotten.

Next 4 bookings free, they'll love the 4-hour drives in two weeks🤣.

Only need to wait 3 weeks for new appointments but, without caffeine in my system Froze tends to sound like agitated sailor.

4 Cups later my mood has improved. Wonder if I can get an off switch on my mouth, few bombs dropped after calling specialist.

X years with same livery , I did snap! First bad screwup they've had, really didn't want to break in new service.

Now, I just need a stagger to feel better, I hope.😎

Guess Winter might be on the way, woke up to 31* morning and actually turned up the furnace to 65*.

Will still be a while before the last mulch of the season and last mow. When weeds are 3' it takes a bit to become manageable.

Furnace will be cleaned next week, new coat of paint to Lopi yesterday, and chores are being done slowly.

Today is somewhere between EXPRESSO and Arabica coffee, actually both.😎

Morning Everybody!

It's a pleasant 37 degrees right now at just before 7am.  We're expecting a high of 61 degrees by about 4 o'clock this afternoon.  We shall see what we shall see!  But as usual, I am snug as a bug in a rug while watching Hallmark Channel's perpetual Christmas movies and enjoying my first cuppa coffee.

Plans for today include a little grocery shopping and supply-getting and then meeting up with an old friend who's going through a particularly rough patch right now.  We've been friends for over forty years.  So we're more like family than just friends.  I like to say we are "framily!"  Anyway, I'm going to try to shore her up with dinner and a movie, a quietly listening ear, and a shoulder if she needs it.  Afterall, that's what friends are for.

Before the weekend comes to an end, I hope to do the last mow for the season. The yard is rather shaggy.  So I intend to limp/drag myself around the yard while pushing the mower to and fro. Soon the leaves will fall and raking will be much easier without the tall grass to deal with as well.

Anyway, my vacation is fast coming to an end and I will be returning to work on tomorrow.  Ugh!  And yet, I have to say "Yay!" as well.  For although, I have greatly enjoyed these days of leisure, I am equally happy to have a job and work that I yet enjoy to get back to!

So Peepers, be good and good to you.  Enjoy the weekend and have fun.  Moreover, whether you get together with friends and/or family or just enjoy the quietness and peace of solitude,...... E-N-J-O-Y!

Good Morning, Front Porch Peepers!
It's 39 degrees here this morning. Brrrrr! But thank God for the warm comfort of my electric blanket and a new furnace. Got up early this morning and have already downed my first cup of cream-filled and sugar laced java. Ummm, good! Ready for the day.

Yesterday, we totally finished the yard job at my god-sister's house. Nothing left to do, but wait for the snow. Oh, and yes @Frozenoem , I have calls out to two or three other tree guys to do that big tree between the garages. Noone has called back as of yet. But I am determined to find someone to fell that tree before this year's end. Fingers crossed.

My vacation is drawing to an end, but I intend to enjoy each remaining moment.  Right now the sun is out, undeterred by clouds. The sky is blue and crystal clear. Beautiful!  And I am smiling.

Hope everybody's doing okay.  Enjoy the day!
