@ginnielee5 Your situation does sound challenging. Humans can be so unthinking. I'm sorry for what you are going through. I used to know American Sign Language, as I student taught a deaf child, but it's been four decades and I only retained a few words.

Your post inspired me to reconnect with sign language that I might be able to sign a few words to the next deaf person I meet.

I love the first one. Seems like I have been close to giving up a lot because of the things that happened in the last 5 months. Lost my car in an accident and my independence. Right after the accident, I got a bad infection (not related) which caused me to lose my hearing and had memory loss and confusion. Memory loss and confusion is getting better but the hearing loss is probably permanent. Had to get hearing aids. Not being able to hear others talking to me was the worst. When people know you have a hearing loss, why do they treat you like you are dumb?? I used to work with a lady who was deaf. I learned some sign language and to speak more slowly and to be sure I was facing her so she could read my lips.
