re: YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES and WHY?
:
Hi Everyone,
I enjoy good acting
which was especially evident in: 12 Angry Men; They Shoot Horses,
Don't They; Serpico; Dog Day Afternoon; The
Pawnbroker; GlenGarry, Glen Ross; Forrest Gump;
The Man Who Would Be King; Million Dollar Baby; Runaway
Jury; Flag Of Our Fathers; Mrs. Henderson
Presents; Little Voice; and Calendar Girls; .
I found that once I started listing my
Movies Favorites in "My Profile", I could go on and
on! What are your movie Favorites, and why did you
like them? You might want to even post a link providing
us with more information, provide us with a link
to it's Movie Trailer, or special video of a Movie
Scene found on "You Tube". It's up to
you!
It's recommended that you list one or two at a
time, (not like me) so we can digest it all, before your next
post on the subject. Plus it gives us the opportunity to
discuss that Movie! Shelby
Hi Shelby, at least you don' t have a "fuddy duddy" around that can't go places far off. Sometimes I feel like I am stuck in the muck. Oh, did you see "In the Bedroom" with Sissy Spacek and Tom Wilkerson? They really did a good job in that one. So many movies, so little time. One more which isn't a movie question, is it safe for a woman to go on a cruise alone? I may be doing that after I see my kids, and if my luck holds. I should be able to get with a group of ladies thru a travel agency, maybe. Any tips would be helpful! Oops, gotta run...Talk to you later....Fran

re: YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES and WHY?
Hi Shelby, did you see "Away from Her"? It stars Julie Christi as the spouse with Altzheimer's. It was a really life like movie, and Julie is nominated for Best Supporting Actress. I don't remember the actor's name who played her husband, but he did a great job. I watch so many movies with Garlon, I forget what I have watched, after awhile! Ha!
Feeling a bit better now about things. I have made up my mind to carry out my June plans, for sure...hopefully I will get to visit with you...
Have a good evening! Fran
Hi Fran,
I never saw the movie AWAY FROM HER. I looked and it is not playing anywhere in my area.! Possibly, it did NOT get good distribution, but if it wins an award, hopefully it will be back!
I want to see KITE RUNNER and ATONEMENT, but this weekend we can't, as my Friend and I have a Surprise Birthday Party to go to on Saturday night, and a Super Bowl Party on Sunday and they will be having musical entertainment before the game!.
Friday will be taken by my other friend, who mainly enjoys Dinner, Dancing and a good game of Scrabble with me. Fran, I lead such a dull life, don't I? Shelby

re: YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES and WHY?
I have some odd favorites, from the days when I attended a film noir festival . I still am haunted by the Ingmar Bergman film- Cries and Whispers- of the early 70's.
I also remember, the Jason Robards fim- A Thousand Clowns, form those film festival showings. He brought so much of life's dramas to the screen.then, of course, Gone With the Wind, has to be a favorite.
In today's cinema - I would have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the film- Chicago- even if it is a re-adaptation of earlty musicals. In that same vein, I enjoyed Thoroughly Modern Millie- and , Chorus Line. Hmmm.l I will have to watch these again, since I reminded myself how much I liked them.
Hi Betsy,
I never saw CRIES and WHISPERS, nor A THOUSAND CLOWNS, and I probably should. have. I was haunted for a long time, by the "Federico Fellini" movie LA STRADA with Anthony Quinn, Giulietta Masina, and Richard Basehart. Here a link to the YOU TUBE video; www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYn-S9Uzppc">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYn-S9Uzppc.
You love musicals just like me! I loved CAROUSEL, and CHICAGO, which were from two different time periods. Then too, what about FIDDLER ON THE ROOF? Click on these two links for a blast from the past: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBHZFYpQ6nc">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBHZFYpQ6nc and www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRdfX7ut8gw&feature=related">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRdfX7ut8gw&feature=related.
Now, here is another blast from the past, for the show CHICAGO! www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuibdLicYvs">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuibdLicYvs along with one from ALL THAT JAZZ. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0NX-ZINtqw Shelby
