I want to thank everybody who has looked at this thread the past couple months.

This will be my last post don't want to continue doing it

Today is my all time favorite actor's birthday,Gene Hackman who is 87. I have LOVED him for years,he retired from acting in 2004.As any great actor with a long career, he has appeared in some 'clunker' movies,he probably did them for the money/script looked good on paper.A couple of his 'misfires' are:'Superman' playing "Lex Luthor''78,"Loose Cannons"90,"Twilight" '98

The movie which started my admiration for him was "The French Connection'"71,terrific movie with a memorable car chase scene. Gene has appeared in over 70 movies, seen most of them. These are my favorites:

1.French Connection '71

2.Hoosiers'86

3. Mississippi Burning'88

4. The Package'89

5.Postcards From The Edge'90

6. Class Action'91

He appeared briefly but in a funny role, as the blind hermit in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein'74. In the "Birdcage' '75,he played Calista Flockhart's father, but to see him at the end of movie in drag walking down the runway was hysterical.

Gene has won 2 Academy Awards,Best Actor for 'French Connection '71,best supp actor "Unforgiven' '92.

He turned down lead role in these movies,"Jaws,Close Encounters of 3rd Kind,One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.He owned the movie rights to "Silence of The Lambs' thought of directing it,found the script too violent. He was the 1st choice to play "Mike Brady' on "Brady Bunch

If you have a favorite movie star, know when his/her birthday is feel free to post it here Sue
