CRASH was great one of the best movies I've seen. Great acting
and directing. And it is the way America talks and acts. It deserved
the Oscar nods. Maryann

MaryAnn, here's looking forward to
a new one by Paul Haggis.
  Thanks for your reply.

Do you like foreign movies? I
like that they focus on people & relationships, more than
on special effects! I felt bad this spring when the arts
theater that showed a lot of foreign movies in my county
closed .. too expensive running a theater with a single
large auditorium, rather than a multiplex. Now that I'm moving,
I'll have to hunt for another place that has those kinds of
movies.

Yes ASTRAEA , I sure do
like foreign films. They are always best when subtitled (not dubbed)
to get the real feel. My favorite Chinese director is Zhang Yimou (he
did the opening sequences of the Olympics in Bejing) and one of my
favorites of his is "Raise the Red Lantern". My favorite
Japanese director is Akira Kurosawa, "Dreams". My city, Long
Beach, CA, actually just remodeled its art theatre. It’s call
the "Art" and opens in early September and I’m ready.

I find it hard to say what would be
my favorite all-time movie, but Crash is certainly way up there on
my list. Paul Haggis has probably created one of the best all-time
American films...about American. There are moment when the toughest
of movie-goers will cry no matter how many times they see the scene.
It runs the spectrum of private lives much in the style of
Paul Anderson's Magnolia. I guarantee you will recognize each of the
characters. I recommend you rent it today.

It's one of my favorite
American movies too; makes you think! I like that
it made the characters question their biases &
stereotypes. Too many people got hung up on the language, &
didn't like it for that reason.
