Question
Does identify theft insurance work, and is it worth the premium?
Answer
That’s a decision each person will have to weigh for themselves. Most of what ID theft protection can do, you can do for free. The premium is paid, and that might be worth the peace of mind for some. However, make sure to read what the insurance covers. Many people who are victims of ID theft recover most of their financial losses, but they can’t recover their loss of time recovering their identity, and that’s not usually covered by insurance.
