Sign up for 5 yrs at a total of $45 ($9 per yr), but renewal at 12.60 per yr

do I read this correctly that if I am a new AARP member, I can sign up for $5 per yr, a total of $45.  But existing members only have an option of 12.60 per yr, a total of $63??  Not a great incentive for existing members to fork out a total of $63 for the 5 yrs and the new folks get a great break?  Thank you

@RichardS373452 Thanks for your interest! That's not correct- the special offers are for existing members, too! New or existing AARP members are welcome to take advantage of any membership offer they may be interested in. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help!

Hello JanelleM,

I am about to renew for 5 years, but do not want to pay $63.  I would like to get NCtarheel's deal if it is available.  How do I sign up for a 5 year $31 deal?

@chamocandela Thanks for being a member of our family! The membership fee is $63 for the five year term, although we occasionally have special discounted offers to take advantage of. We do not have an offer with that pricing. If you'd like to give us a call for further assistance, we can be reached at 1-888-OUR-AARP (1-888-687-2277).

@RichardS373452,

Call them and negotiate a deal of your own. I have had a membership for the last 5 years for which I paid $31 total or about $6.25 a year, that is even less than their $9 a year promotion. I just negotiated my subscription with XM radio. They wanted me to renew at $262.00 for the upcoming year and I renewed for $111. NEGOTIATE ANY AND ALL SUBSCRIPTIONS..... THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE SUBSCRIBERS!!!!
