taxes and medicare

I am scrambling to file 2023 taxes and have a question I’d like answered so here ‘tis: are our Medicare premiums (already deducted by gov) tax deductible and what about Part D I have deducted from my checking account and what about Medigap? What exactly does the IRS allow us to deduct?

This should answer all your questions - remember you report your SS benefit amount BEFORE the Medicare Part B deduction.

AARP.org - Are Your Medicare Premiums Tax Deductible?

IRS.gov Publication 502 Medical& Dental Expenses

For the IRS link - look on the left side of the page under “What Medical Expenses are Includible?  and then follow the listing down to the subheading of “Insurance” and you will see the types you mentioned as deductible IF they were paid by you and you decide to itemize your deductions instead of taking the standard deduction - and they add up to more than 7.5% of your AGI
