Medicare/Plan G reimbursement for counseling?

I'm talking to a counselor about a family estrangement situation and wondered if there is anything I can do with the invoices for partial reimbursement from either Medicare or my UHC Plan G supplemental plan?

Do they accept Medicare?

Medicare assignment?  Are they a non-participating provider?  Have they opted out of Medicare?  Are they a contract provider?

Medicare.gov Lower cost with Assignment

Is the service covered?  Medically necessary?

Medicare.gov Outpatient Mental Health Coverage

As far as reimbursement - Try This:  CMS.gov Form 1490 Patients Request for Medical Payment

Your Medigap plan (Medicare Supplemental) ONLY pays when Medicare pays.  I don't know how this works with a covered reimbursement service especially from a providers who might not be a Medicare provider.

Does not take Medicare.  The "private pay" rate is lower than many standard rates I see out there.  I would not consider this medically necessary.
