Health Insurance Options After Job Loss

Losing a job is overwhelming and stressful. With the addition of the global pandemic, it's crucial for you to understand what your options are for insurance coverage after losing a job.

 

Do you have any tips or advice as they relate to health insurance for those currently navigating the waters of job loss?

COBRA for up to 18 months

 

ACA . . . often higher premium than COBRA and less coverage (much higher OOP)

 

Christian Health Care Sharing ministries (caveat, NOT insurance)

 

Everything else is junk and should be avoided. This includes indemnity plans, STM, anything non-ACA compliant

 

For those who are 65+ there is Medicare
