I am 67 with AARP UHC medigap supplement plan N, live in Hawaii. Can I change from plan N to plan G without underwriting during open enrollment?
if underwriting is required, is this required every year?
See a Medicare broker in your area since this will depend on state law, your health and the insurance company prerogative as to how they rate their policies for those who may be able to switch.
In some states a person can switch to an equal or lesser plan but Plan N is less than Plan G in benefits - so I am gonna just guess that this type of switch is doubtful. I donโt know the Medigap laws in Hawaii - so check with the Dept of Insuance in Hawaii to see if there are any specific regulations pertaining to switching Medigap plans outside of the Initial Enrollment Period or Guaranteed Issue periods.
Open Enrollment does not include Medigap - Open Enrollment is only for Medicare Advantage and/or Part D Prescription Drug Coverage plans.
