AARP Invalid Information

There's an awful lot of incorrect information ( call them lies) going around about Medicare.  In particular, the initial sign-up period.  According to the big thick book that the fed's mail out every year, MY sign-up period starts 3 months before my 65th birthday, and ends 3 months after my 65th birthday.  That birthday is on Dec 4.  Yet I get an emailing from AARP telling me that my  signup ends on December 1.  AARP needs to stop lying.

.

You have a 7-month window to initially enroll in Medicare.

You can enroll 3 months before the month of your 65th birthday, the month of your 65th birthday and 3 months after the month of your 65th birthday.

If the “big thick book” that the Feds mailed you says anything different you need to get a hold of Medicare right away and ask them what’s going on.
