AARP Delta Dental Insurance

Just got a new bill for $17.00 after just having paid my $425 quarterly payment.

It says it is for a CA (Calif) Surcharge and appears to be a monthly charge.

What is up with that? I have been is this plan for 8-10 years always located in Calif and have never seen this before!

Anyone else getting this new charge?

Maybe it is due to wildfire danger?

Hey BG - After I made my funny comment, I opened my mail - and guess what?  There is a Delta dental bill for $17.00!!!

CA Surcharge                                                     $17.00

Companies writing health insurance business in California are required to participate in the California Life and Health lnsurance Guarantee Association.
lf a company writing health insurance becomes insolvent, the California Life and Health lnsurance Guarantee Association settles unpaid claims and
assesses each insurance company for its fair share. California law allows all companies to surcharge policies to recover these assessments. lf your
policy is surcharged, "CA Surcharge" with an amount will be displayed on your premium notice.

Since I've had AARP Delta Dental for a number of years, this must be a new CA requirement?

I did an Email to Delta on the 9th and I am awaiting a response.

Received a response from Delta Dental.

They say it is a "one time charge of $17" for CA.

There's alway a chance your teeth may burn up in a wildfire.  Delta dental insurance.
