If you are still working at 65 and have delayed signing up for all the parts of Medicare because you have Employer Group Coverage, some changes ahead may disqualify your plan. Then the late enrollment penalty would apply because the employer plan no longer meets the equal to better (credible) benefits offered in Medicare.

What a mess - somebody just forgot about this when writing all the new Part D rules.
@GailL1 Great post. Hopefully, more folks will read and comprehend the information regarding creditable coverage. The last paragraph is important especially for folks working past age 65 and have employer sponsored insurance coverage. If they do not from their employer and/or insurer, if an insured plan, they need to contact their employer, insurer, or plan administrator to clarify creditable coverage status. Although the article does not address employer sponsored carve out drug provisions with minimal stop loss limits (i.e., $1,000) and medical coverage provisions with greater stop loss limits (i.e., $3500, etc.), I believe such type of employer sponsored plan will be creditable coverage. Who knows?
