And I Love You So-A Gordon Lightfoot cover,but my all time fave is Early Morning Rain,also by Lightfoot. Loved too many to mention,he could make any song his own but there's just something about those.

One year I threw an Elvis' Birthday Party at my public library.  We watched Jailhouse Rock, had a presenter talk about Elvis' importance in rock history,had an Elvis imitation contest, and played "Name That Elvis" (where the answers were Elvis Costello, Elvis Stojko or Elvis Presley).  My favorite memory:  two little boys, both under the age of 7, dressed as "Jailhouse Rock" Elvis and "Aloha from Hawaii" Elvis, lip synching.

My favorite memory: Seeing him in concert in 1974 in Monroe La was my 1st Concert & my 16th birthday gift from my Mom...

My Favorite movie: 

"Flaming Star" ....but loved them all but this one full of heart and Barbara Eden( I dream of Jeannie) was beautiful I still cry every time I watch the Dvd ...He only sang 1 song

My Favorite Song:  Oh my lots of favs but most favs: Memories, My Way, Trilogy, Kentucky Rain, Blue Christmas, If I can dream, Always on my Mind, In the Ghetto, Return to Sender, How Great thou Art, The Wonder of You, Help me make it through the night, Can't help falling in love, Suspicious Minds, Are you lonesome tonight, Little Sister, Crying in the Chapel....

Thanks for the memories & thread here to relive & recall those beautiful moments... I so enjoyed reading all the posts here... They'll Never be another truly one of a kind

I’ve been an Elvis fan for about (52) years now and after some rough years in the 70’s where the media and others were slamming him hard and cruelly over his weight and voice, he’s bigger now than ever. I enjoy “If I Can Dream” and “In The Ghetto “, he put his heart and soul into those two. He was even warned that “In The Ghetto “ was to controversial and not to do the song but he stood his ground and did it His Way and was successful.

Jailhouse rock and memory was the day he died, my cousin told me and I beat her up cuz I didn't believe her and I ran home crying to my mom.

When Elvis first became a nationally know singer his song "Ain't nothin' but a hound dog" was my favorite.  I sang it all the time which made my mother cringe.

She really didn't like Elvis because of his gyrations but mostly because he didn't clearly ennunciate his words and of course, when I sang it I didn't either.  So I was banned from singing it if she was in earshot.  I just went out in the orchard and sang to the apples and plums!

Jailhouse Rock. It was when Elvis was still blonde and unfettered. Don't like how Hollywood changed him. The original Elvis ... even before Ed Sullivan ... was the best. Hound Dog would be next.

Besides all of his great songs ( and I couldn't pick a favorite ) Elvis did at least 35 movies. His movies are some of my favorite memories, and he was also a good actor as well. Long live the King!

Elvis became popular the year I was 16.  I'd hang pictures of Elvis on my bedroom wall and my father would take them down.  I remember seeing Elvis for the first time when he appeared on the Ed Sullivan show when he was shown from the waist up so we couldn't see his gyrations!  My mother watched with me but my father thought it was awful!   I remember Elvis singing Hound Dog to a basset hound, too.  My father always called me Teddybear when I was a child, so you can imagine my excitement when Elvis sang the song Teddybear.  I loved all of his songs, especially Love me Tender, When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold, and so many others.  I still have my Elvis 78 and 45 rpm vinyl records and have copied them onto CDs.  There will never be another singer like Elvis Presley.

Suspisous Minds.  My older sister  loved Elvis, she married young and never got to go to any of his concerts so when he was in Chicago the year before he died I took her to see him for her birthday, she has told me many times that she was so grateful she got to see him before he died and it was the best birthday present she has ever gotten.

My mother adored him, and my dad resented him - it was pure jealousy.  I grew up with Elvis as a child - I know every single song he ever sang.  I thought he was incredibly handsome as I grew - but the sneer he had that came out every once in awhile was not to my liking.  For all the crazy things he did, ate, said, and just having that much charm made him who was as a person, but his music was for everyone.  He sang like no one else, he moved like no one else, and it's a shame he died the way he did.  His personal life was a mess, but his music could soothe a child - he was the King - of music.  It's so sad that his life ended tragically whereas he could have lived, became old, and have a million stories to tell his grandchildren.  Have you heard the "Trilogy"?  I think he put his soul into that song, and it's the one that can make me cry.  He had an incredible voice that gave me goose bumps.  Another one lost but not forgotten.

My favorite was on the back of the Harum Scarum soundtrack, Wisdom of the Ages. A beautiful song with interesting lyrics:

I wasn’t that big of a fan of the King but I remember August 16, 1977 the day he died, where I was at and what I was doing.

It’s difficult to choose just one of his songs as my favorite. He had so many that I liked. But if I had to pick one I’ll pick “Kentucky Rain”, written by Eddie Rabbit and released in 1970 by Elvis.

I've been a Elvis fan as long as I can remember.  "If I Can Dream", "In the Ghetto " and "How Great Thou Art" are just a few of my favorites as they showcase the feeling he put into his songs.

Oh Elvis! Besides knowing Loretta, who is obsessed with him, I have two memories of Elvis. The first is when I was fourteen. My neighbor Patty and I went to see "Love Me Tender", along with a couple hundred other teenage girls. Anyone remember when children's tickets were .25? The theatre had a curtain and stage, as it was used for community events. As soon as that curtain started to part, the screaming started. The lights went down, they got louder. Then his name appeared. We didn't hear any of the movie. Girls even rushed the stage as if Elvis were really there. My second memory was when I was a slot attendant in a casino, where there was a bank of Elvis machines that played one of his songs on a hit. One day I came across a young couple standing and holding hands as they swayed to "The Wonder Of You", with tears in their eyes.  They told me it was going to be the song for their first dance at their wedding. I don't think they even cared much about the money they won.

I was not really an Elvis fan (horrors!) as I was under 10 years old when he became famous, but learned to appreciate him as I became a teen.  Guess my favorite song was Can't Help Falling in Love with You.  I thought he could have been a very fine actor if given the chance, but Colonel Parker did not let him do it.  I loved the early movies before he went into the army and a few afterwards.  It was a shame that he used drugs, as did many singers and artists.  It seems they never learn.
