CRAIG

CRAIG

When you were born our hearts were pleased,

We held you close.

We loved you so.

When you were one,

We thought we knew

How best to help a fine son, like you.

When you were two

Our hearts’ delight…

Even though you still cried at night.

When you were three

We both agreed,

No son on earth was loved like thee.

When you were four

We were so glad,

To witness all the fun you had.

When you were five

We set you free,

To explore the world and often trees.

When you were six…

We breathed a sigh

And said “this is one great little guy.”

When you were seven

We were so sure,

We’d be your friends till “heaven fell.”

When you were eight

It was a treat…

You loved Mom’s cookies and kissed her cheek.

When you were nine we knew you’d grow…

And often tried to tell you so.

At last came ten,

That special day…to have your birthday dinner in town,

And we drove to Alex’s Crown.

What happened after that is filled

With things that made our life a thrill.

Alas, the years did not stand still…

You grew so tall

So handsome, too…and, Craig,

We’ve always been so proud of you.

I hope your Craig is the same as my Craigg, but I doubt that...

Everyone should consider that all are equal to all others, no matter their ethnicity, sexuality, individuality,,,
