@retiredtraveler - When AARP got away from the "managed group" format years back, they wouldn't consider creating a sub-category for General Music, in the "Entertainment" category!

I had a group for Opera at one point, but it didn't have enough activity to keep it going, unfortunately.

We have a rock-n-roll thread, but I can't be the only person who prefers jazz or even symphonic music. Or am I?

As far as jazz, definitely like big band, 40's and more contemporary. Really like jazz organ such as Tony Defrancesco on his Hammond B3.

Symphonic, prefer more modern as Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Copeland.

Any other fans, or is everyone into "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"?

Well just so you know people post about all kinds of music in Rock n Roll.

Even OMG Country.   Music all has the same basis.

@retiredtraveler  Sorry, I should have explained myself. I went over and created that swing thread in the Rock N Roll forum after my first post here. I think the thread attracted something like 80 views so far today. You could create threads over there if you wanted.

I missed that. Yes, swing is just a subset of big band.

@retiredtraveler  I listen to swing, jazz, big band, symphonic on occasion. (Less so as I age .. what is with that?)

And I have a suggestion for you: march on over the to the Rock N Roll forum and start a thread for the types of music you prefer. And post videos. Keep doing it untl like-eared folk join you. Smiley Happy
