A Snippet from Waikiki

One day last week, I saw a composed young woman straddling the handle bars of a bike; she was facing her male partner who was all-so-cautiously pedaling along the ragged sidewalk. The next day, I glimpsed a jittery young lady sitting on the handle bars of a bike and facing away from her male compatriot who was maniacally pedaling on the super smooth Ala Wai Boulevard.

I had never before seen anyone anywhere riding on a bike’s handlebars. But in two consecutive days, I saw two such configurations.  How wonderfully fortuitous! It would have been even more remarkable if the young lady in both cases was the same person varying her position on the bike’s handlebars. No holds barred.
