Thanks for enjoying my poem...I hope that you can overcome your dysfunctional family...and I know from personal experience how heartbreaking that can be😪. Just look forward and enjoy each God given-day and know you are loved by the best. Keep writing and looking up. Judy

Judith......I did find the poem you suggested and it was fun to read.

Here is a sample of my fun ones. It is based on my Mothers teachings. She had grown sour on men and she used to say, "Men, who wants them?" They are all liars and have no butts." I knew I would be successful because I tell the truth and have a butt. Years later I wrote this poem. Apologies to any man who reads.

Mama's Theory

Mama had a saying about men.
I heard her say it time and time again.
There is an assembly line in heaven
Where clay is molded and shaped until it becomes men.
An angel stands at one end of the line,
and as the assembly line runs by,
She stamps lying instructions on each man's behind.
Wrong decisions and wrong men all through the years
have caused me to change Mom's belief through my tears.
I know that sometimes the line sputters and halts
as the angel tries desperately to see through their faults.
SO, some of them get stamped more than once as the line goes by.
Others get stamped not once, not twice, but occasionally until the ink runs dry.

Hi Judith and welcome.

Looks like you might want to investigate this part of the forum: http://community.aarp.org/t5/Writing-Books/bd-p/bg155

I enjoyed reading your poem. I like to write also. I have written a couple of poems, but I mostly write humor and have worked on a book for years. I don't know if I will ever try to do anything with it. In writing it, I learned that you reveal so much about yourself when you write. It could be a little too revealing. The book is my humorous view of my VERY dysfunctional family. Everyone says they have one, but mine may be over the top.

REFLECTIONS (Poem)

           REFLECTIONS

I love so many, many thing…

The richness of the earth

With honey overflowing

And babies loved at birth.

The twinkling of a little star…

The gentle hum of trees,

The magic of a moonlit night

The coolness of a breeze.

Where do the years all hurry

Why do my thoughts return,

To loved and simple pleasures

That make my heart just yearn.

For old familiar places…

And friends who were so dear.

The lessons learned so long ago

Have now become so clear.
