AARP Eye Center
AARP just put out what they call the AARP LIVABILITY INDEX.
Remember the old adage that there is TRUTH, there's LIES, and then there is STATISTICS.
I never seen anything so full of BS as this LIVABILITY INDEX.
A full 13 of the 40 most livable locales, 33% or 1/3 of all the places they name as most livable are in MINNESOTA or WISCONSIN.
Yep, that's where a senior citizen wants to put down roots..... the frozen NORTH.
No Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama , Texas, Kentucky, I could go on but you get the idea.
Do the originators of the INDEX have some SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP with the two states of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Sure seems like it.
The livability index has housing costs in my Temple TX neighborhood at $686/month. That's less than homeowners I know in my neighborhood are paying, and WAY less than my rent, $1450/month. There are a lot of leisure class, mooching off the taxpayer ex-military homeowners in this neighborhood, some of whom, like my landlady, I suspect are claiming their "homes" are owner-occupied. My landlady's mortgage might be $686, but I've been in this house for 6 years and never paid under $1100/month rent. And I am still working for my income at 61, so I'm a lot older than these military "retirees".
I have been to Minnesota. It is a beautiful state, but the high temperature for the day was minus 10 degrees. Not for me.
