Yes, right. There are a number of food poisioning causes (foodborne illness). A few of those are:

 

Unwashed produce (we've seen this happen across the country with lettuce that was exposed to improperly aged manure).

 

Unwashed kitchen help hands. 

 

Commercial kitchens not following time-temperature abuse guidelines.

 

Unsanitary commercial kitchens (thinking rodent droppings).

 

Rarely, but it happens: impropery sealed home canned food items.

 

Home food not held at proper temperatures (thinking anything with mayo in it at a pot luck).

 

Restaurant leftovers not held at proper temperatures.
