I don't take showers any longer.  I would like to know if chloramine is still used to disinfect our city water supply.  I have health issues that are seriously affected by chloramine.  Whenever I take a shower, my skin itches and I have sores on my body.  I also feel extremely fatigued.

Thank you, Rock Southward [Personal details removed from public view to protect your online privacy]
P.S. Do you know where I can take a shower with water that is NOT treated with chloramine?

You can buy water filters to put on a shower. Google is our friend.

And I imagine if you contact your local town water supplier they can tell you what is in the water. You could also take a sample and have it analyzed to see what is in it.

I have a couple of suggestions.  I was chemically injured in an accident.  I got carbon monoxide poisoning. And I was also exposed to paint fumes and polyurethane.

The medical problems I have are often referred to as “chemical injury” or “environmental illness.”

You could probably jury rig a system.  Collect rain water.  You can Google articles about how to do that.  And there are probably shower systems set up that draw water from a container.

That is easy to say, but might not be easy to do.  You could still have to assess the quality of that water…and it still might have to be filtered and sterilized in some way.  Otherwise, you are just going to get sick from something else.  You know, for example, there are “camping” showers.

I may have some links / resources that can help.

You might try contacting the Environmental Health Center in Dallas, Texas.

In addition to asking about how to access water without that treatment chemical, you might also run your symptoms by them.  They work on the medical problems that create the kind of reaction you are having.

These replies don’t seem to want to take links….so….
