Vanilla advice, please !

🤔I don't see a food forum here, so will sneak this one in. I've always  had vanilla around of course,

but for about a year, I had a bottle of real vanilla, it was mostly gone when I was about to make hot chocolate and discovered it was spoiled-or at least it tasted like it. Never before   heard of vanilla spoiling ! What the heck happened here ?  😲

Read the labelled ingredients.  What solvent was used?

Hi Sandee2! I've also never heard of vanilla expiring before 😲 I think you're speaking about vanilla extract? Was it exposed to light, moisture or heat? From everything I've read, as long as it's stored properly (in a cool, dark place and tightly sealed), it has an indefinite shelf life.

Don't know what the heck went on with that vanilla . It was kept in a kitchen cabinet all the time. Weird. However, I bought a new bottle, different brand.
