Little bit overwhelmed and don't know what to do

To make a long story short, I recently returned to the US with only the clothes on my back, after living overseas while collecting SSDI.

I've managed to get myself onto full scope Medi-Cal, and I believe that I have Medicare Part A & D, but to be honest with you, I'm a little bit fuzzy mentally, and I'm not 100% certain about all of these programs.  (For example, I think that I might have Part B also, but my My Medicare Part B is being paid for by Medi-Cal, but again, I'm a little confused on all of this.)

So, after I got onto Medi-Cal, I was finally able to have a full physical exam.  This was approximately three or four weeks ago, and the doctor who examined me agreed that I have some health issues which need to be addressed.

My problem is that the staff at the county medical facility where I had my medical exam conducted, improperly filled out that referral paperwork for the other medical specialists, (surgeon, radiologists, and gastroenterologist) and now as a result, I cannot get appointments made with these specialists.

I went back to the county hospital to talk with the person who does referrals, but the security guard said she was busy, but maybe she would fax the new paperwork to the specialists within a week or two.

I cannot believe this!  I have urgent medical needs which need to be addressed, and the medical staff at the county facility act like a bunch of imperious buffoons who cannot be bothered!  I honestly do not see an end to this on the horizon.

So, now I'm trying to find a senior advocacy group which can help me deal me make my appointments and deal with the hostile medical staff at the county.  The county assigned me a "community health worker" but this person won't give me their full name, they don't return calls, and she told me yesterday that she is taking the rest of the week off, so not to call her.  - In other words almost completely worthless.

So, are there any sort of advocates for disabled seniors who can help me with all of this?  Please, I need help.  Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi @EricW236758, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. I can imagine how frustrated and uncared for you feel. It shouldn't be like this.

If I'm interpreting things correctly, you are in California? Your best bet may be to reach out to the AARP California office, and hopefully, they can help you find what you are in need of.

Yes, I'm in California, but I'm not really a member of AARP, because I cannot afford it.  Will tlhey still help me anyway?

They may still be able to help you find an organization that could help since they know the area. You could also try calling Medi-Cal. They may have a patient advocate that can help.

Thank you for the information, and I will try calling AARP in California on Monday, as I'm feeling a bit under the weather today. Also, I've tried calling Medi-Cal in the past, and most of the people there are 10,000% not interested in helping.
