Calories per hour, walking on a treadmill?

Assuming I walk on a treadmill at a constant speed for 2 hours.....will the second hour of walking burn:

  1. the same amount of calories as the first hour
  2. more calories than the first hour
  3. or less calories than the first hour?

If you walk on a treadmill at a constant speed and incline, youโ€™ll burn about the same number of calories in the second hour as in the first hour.

After the initial warm-up, your body settles into a steady state where energy use remains fairly consistent. Unless you change your pace, incline, or start to fatigue enough to slow down, calorie burn doesnโ€™t meaningfully increase or decrease in hour two.

For anyone focused on fat loss rather than just calorie numbers, combining steady walking with proven lifestyle habits can make a bigger difference. These practical strategies are well explained in weight loss tips guide that actually work.

Many fitness watches give you a good idea of this based on your stride length.  But Iโ€™ve noticed when Iโ€™ve walked in the neighborhood, not a treadmill, my pace is not always the same.  Sometimes slower, sometimes faster.  I would imagine based on your criteria you gave it should be about the same.  However, usually when someone first starts they have more energy and tend to move at a good clip, unlike the second half where they tend to lag a bit as your muscle fatigue creeps in.
