For the first time in history, doctors who care for people with Alzheimerโs have access to two medications that may be able to modestly slow the progression of the disease โ at least for some patients.
The two drugs โ Leqembi (lecanemab) and Kisunla (donanemab) โ are โtransformational,โ says Paul E. Schulz, M.D., professor of neurology and director of the Neurocognitive Disorders Center at the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. โThey provide the first inkling that we are on the right path, which gives us great hope that we can continue to tweak things and improve the effects.
