The Caregiver Aftermath

Hi, everyone, I wanted to share some thoughts for those of you who were caregivers to your lost loved ones.  Since my husband passed, I have experienced acute pain whenever someone I know has died suddenly or is receiving treatment for a serious illness possibly leading to death.  I think this is more common than I expected and some of my widow friends have had the same reaction - painful memories of the past last days, caregiving self-doubts, anxiety, reliving the bad times.  I think this is a "normal" (I dislike this word but somehow it fits) and I wanted you who are experiencing this to be kind to yourself.  The caregiving mode was rough and it is unfortunately going to be relived by some of us when there are reminders/triggers.  Anticipatory grief goes along with that and possibly longer recovery from the loss.  Take care of yourself.  Sue
