Love’s Got Everything to do with It

Lately, I have reflected on the meaning of love as part of the new life I am forging.  Love is very important and essential to our mental and physical well-being. Those of us who have lost a “loved” one know that the pain is in a significant part literally due to the loss of that love.  What does that mean and how do we fill the void?  Yes, for me, a large emptiness occurred when my husband died.  How do I fill that void?  What type of love manifests itself? I am seeing that love can have many meanings and that opportunities can occur in unexpected ways.  It can be platonic, social, pet oriented (like Beasley), romantic, etc. There is no right fit for everyone.  Love is important but I am not sure that much has been written on this subject as part of the grieving healing process.  I think it is inferred, but like everything else, sometimes it helps just to articulate one’s needs.  I am still on this journey but feel that love is an important component to my new life.  I’d like your views as well.  Thanks, and have a good day, Sue 💞

That's the truly beautiful part of love. It comes to us frequently unannounced, has no shape or size,it simply fits our need at the time. Its very possible and healthy to love someone or something (a pet) and still maintain that very special feeling for the one we lost. One love doesn't crowd another one out.It simply blends together and becomes part of the one love we have to share. Its a very positive thing that you are open to some form of love to help you on your journey. A lot of people never figure that out. Good for you.  I don't know for sure if any of what I said makes any sense but it felt good to say it.

Hi, Lee, your words and thoughts are very inspiring.  Thank you for sharing.  I like your view that love in its many forms does blend together and becomes part of the one love we have to share.  It is a hard journey and having love be part of it makes all the difference in the world.

Hi, Nicole, I appreciate your candid views.  I have to say that I am treading the human love waters very gingerly, mostly in reflection.  I know that it is too early for me to contemplate a partner but I am trying to remain open to new relationships and opportunities for socialization as my immediate step.  I have also had my share of bad human experiences with just grievance support and empathy so it is a difficult road to travel.  As I said in my post, love can manifest itself in many ways and that is the blessing.  Thinking of Beasley and the other fur babies as a great example.  Just don't give up on love.  You deserve love, especially right now on the grieving journey. Love, Sue 💝
