Gifts during the Grievance Journey

I wanted to share what recently happened to a friend of mine who I met during one of my grievance workshops.  She was approaching her first one-year anniversary of her loved oneโ€™s death.  She had kept it together very well this year, much better than I did.  I admired her courage and offered to be there for her to talk and listen. Well, it tuns out her day turned out quite differently!  Her only daughter went into labor and delivered a healthy baby boy a day before her husbandโ€™s anniversary day. WOW.  The upcoming pain of remembering the last months of caregiving and death were softened with love for a new life coming into her world.  The baby would not replace her lost loved one but would be a critical new person to love in her life. What a wonderful unanticipated gift.  I felt it too. May we all experience gifts, however, big, or small on our own journey.  Wishing you a peaceful holiday season.    Your friend, Sue ๐ŸŽ„

That is nice Sue. The caregiving and death is a lot to process. It's so nice to find meaning and comfort in new things. While I'm sure your husband was grateful and comforted that you were with him in his last days.Take care!
