EVENT NAME - Conversations on Grief: Too Much Loss - Coping with Grief Overload!!!

FROM THE EVENT SITE.

Grief overload is what you feel when you experience too many significant losses in life in a relatively short period. In addition to the death of loved ones, such losses can include divorce, estrangement, illness, relocation, job changes and more. When the grief and loss pile up, the pain often seems especially defeating.
The good news is that you can find your way back to hope and healing through intentional, active mourning. This webinar will cover:

[1] What grief overload is and how to cope with it.

[2] What you may think and feel when you experience grief overload.

[3] Six needs of mourning and how they will help you heal.

[4] How to make a mourning plan.

[5] What reconciling your grief looks and feels like.

[6] How the Grief Overload Mournerโ€™s Bill of Rights can help you actively mourn.

This webinar is based on Too Much Loss: Coping With Grief Overload by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D. He is the director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition and a faculty member at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

DATE: Thursday - Jun 19, 2025.

TIME - 11:30 a.m. ET โ€ข 10:30 a.m. CT โ€ข 9:30 a.m. MT โ€ข 8:30 a.m. PT.

Duration: 90 Minutes.

Zoom - Free Online Event.

For questions, contact AARP TX at txaarp@aarp.org.

MC @mc6844 wrote on Thursday 11/7/24:

I attended the event today - finding meaning in loss. I found out some information about grief I wasn't aware. One was looking for the familiar no longer there. Acceptance is what we get from that. I think acceptance is a back and forth type of thing, not easy to attain.

Also, It becomes necessary to recognize how grief impacts our lives. That out own journeys are important too. And not to worry how others perceive us, if something doesn't have to be done today or tomorrow, that's fine.

I think people will definitely hear something that will help in an area they feel stuck. For instance, the moderator said he was certain he saw his deceased wife in the grocery store. He kept looking for her there. I kept buying groceries and cooking for two or more people for a year and a half. Wasn't good for my widow's budget either lol. Doing better with that now thank goodness.

Attending these events is a way to move forward. No worries about transportation and no cost. Most grief events are not.

Right after I registered, I remembered that I have a conflict and I don't think I'll be able to attend. Is the video made available afterwards?

Thank You Nicole.  I registered for the session.  YOU, my dear, are on top of everything for us.  Luv ya!   I don't know what you did for a living, BUT you should have run a company with the way you co-ordinate and run this site.   You provide a wealth of information and resources to help us.  โค๏ธ
