Website request for mobile phone number

When I sign on, the website requests that I provide a phone number that will be eventually used for additional user verification.  I manage two accounts.  Mine and my elderly parents as their POA.  I only have one mobile phone number and do not have a landline.  I have a Google Voice number I use to receive texts on my parents' behalf from companies that don't like that my mobile number and their mobile number the same (e.g., Xfinity).  You website says I cannot use my mobile number because it is associated with another account, and a Google Voice number is not an acceptable number, so I have no other options to provide a phone number for my parents' account.

There are many providers who allow me to use my number for both me and my parents accounts.  I don't understand why your system does not allow it.  You are not considering a common situation where a child is managing a parent's affairs.

Even if I provided my parents' landline number, that is not a practical solution to verify that I am authorized to sign onto their account.  For now I will continue to check skip providing phone number when I sign on, but if you ever implement two factor authentication, I will no longer be able to sign on to their account.

@RonaldR967069 I'm happy to help with this. I understand that you are needing to complete the phone verification for your parents' account. The error message, "Phone number not eligible," will populate during the AARP verification process when the phone number entered is a Voice Over IP (VOIP) number, which is not supported. Please send me a private message so that we can create an escalation to get this taken care of. Be sure to enable private messages first. Steps to do that can be found on this thread: https://community.aarp.org/t5/About-Our-Community/How-do-I-send-a-private-message/m-p/2196182?cmp=SN.... Once you have enabled private messaging, you can send us a private message following the info here: https://community.aarp.org/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/pm?cmp=SNO-LITHIUM---&socialid=1462334780.... I look forward to hearing back from you!  - Janelle M.
