AARP Eye Center
I booked a hotel through AARP Travel Center powered by Expedia for a six-night stay from February 8 to February 14, 2024, but due to horrible conditions, I checked out the morning after arrival. I submitted a complaint on February 9, 2024, and followed up again this past Friday, yet I have not received any response within the promised timeframe.
The hotel was completely uninhabitable. I requested a non-smoking room, but the room reeked of cigarette smoke, had two ashtrays, cigarette burns on the bed, and was filthy. The phone didn’t work, there was no hot water, the refrigerator and microwave were dirty with food residue, and the door lock was damaged, making me feel unsafe. I was unable to sleep because of the conditions, and I checked out at 6:00 AM on February 9.
Despite only staying one night under these conditions, I was charged $251.24 for all six nights, and the hotel has ignored refund requests. Since I booked through AARP Travel Center, I expect AARP and Expedia to take responsibility for ensuring I receive a full refund. I have photo evidence of the hotel’s conditions and am prepared to escalate this further to the BBB, my bank, and local authorities if this is not resolved.
I am posting here because my complaints have gone unanswered. Can someone from AARP Travel help me resolve this? This matter should have been handled already.
