Text messages to Canadians

 I joined aarp for the Rolling Stones presale code but found that aarp does NOT send texts or emails to Canada. Our Ticketmaster has AARP listed as having a presale Nov 29/30 but the presale code can’t be sent to me because of their policy. I spent a hour on the phone with various departments at aarp without any success. Suggestions?

I called today and was told the following:

 

Flow the Member will follow:

  • Login to AARP.org
  • Visit https://www.aarp.org/rollingstones2024
  • Buttons will become active at 9am local time of venue to view code
  • Buttons turn into (Get Tickets) at 10am local time of venue
  • The code will appear as a pop-up when they click the button
  • There will be a button below the code that directs Member to ticket seller site
  • Member enters code at ticket seller’s site for early access
  • Available locations are listed on the site

Was also mentioned that they are working on the whole not sending texts to Canada issue (maybe, it wasn't 100% clear what they are working on).

 

There communications could certainly be improved.

Same here - I just wasted $17 US to join to get the code so I can get tix two hours earlier, then they do not deliver - what a scam! It even says to wait for a confirmation text after you put in your cell phone number, but it never comes!

Same issue here. Thanks for posting. Now they are closed for thanksgiving. Clearly this is false advertising. AARP has been emailing me invitations to join over the last few days. I just deleted until the Stones announcement. Into the trash and try the link they sent….which of course didn’t work. I am sure you are not the only Canadian spending an hour on the phone with them to no avail. 
Maybe they will work over the long weekend and find a work around.

Today I loaded Phoner to get a US phone number. Still didn’t work.

I am receiving texts from aarp now so I’m crossing my fingers that I will get the presale code on Wednesday or I will cancel my membership. Good luck!
