AARP Eye Center
I was toward the end of my new employer's open enrollment, trying to compare vision plans as I'd been on Eyemed for the past year (with mixed results). Not finding my policy, I went looking online for it. Eyemed knew nothing of my existence. I logged into aarp, the site that's more marketing than substance, and eventually found an article referencing eyemed, stating "As of January 1, 2024, AARP no longer offers new enrollment in AARP® MyVision Care provided through EyeMed." Quite interesting as I had just enrolled in late Nov/early Dec of 2023, yet aarp didn't notify me then or later that this was happening.
Still, I had no way to check on my eyemed policy.
I searched my email archive and found a reference to customer.sasid.com. The login I'd recorded actually got me in to a very bare-bones site with no information about cancelling. The only possible link was "view more options" that directed me to an entirely different site that displayed....NOTHING! An entirely blank page. Only when I did a full refresh of the page (many users would not know how to do this) did the page render as member.eyemedvisioncare.com
But, do you think I could find a way to cancel my policy? No. FUBAR.
Solved! Go to Solution.
And no, I don't accept this as a "solution"; however, to close the topic, I'll click on the "accept as solution button."
@ddalquist I'm sorry you had trouble locating EyeMed! Yes, as of January 1, 2024, AARP no longer offers new enrollment in AARP® MyVision Care provided through EyeMed. If you are already enrolled, your coverage through EyeMed will continue. If you have any questions about your AARP® MyVision Care provided through EyeMed insurance, please call EyeMed at 1-844-243-4584, or visit: https://www.eyemed.com/en-us Take care! Jodee R.
This is the critical part of the response I received from eyemed: "I’m sorry but I am unable to locate any current plans for you in our system..."
My complaints eventually found their way to somebody who knew something (they remain anonymous), and I got this response from a company that I didn't even know was involved (insurancetpa.com): "If you have questions please contact EyeMed ID card and billing department toll free at 1-844-243-4584 or send an email to support@insurancetpa.com to find out if your policy has a reinstatement provision or if we can be of further assistance. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. CST and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST."
They make it easy to sign up – Sure! We'll take your money – but when it comes to cancelling, good luck.
