AARP Eye Center
Hello -
I'm a Board Member for a Senior Center. Last year we had a major weather emergency, which highlighted the fact that we don't have a good way to identify and contact seniors who may be isolated and in need of assistance. I'm looking for programs that are already in existence that we can look at and see if we can adopt. We're hoping to put something in place as soon as possible, and don't want to waste time reinventing the wheel if there are effective programs already out there. Any help appreciated! Thanks.
*For clarification, our area is prone to snow, ice, flooding/mudslides, earthquakes, and wildfires. (An exciting place to live!) Any and all present challenges to making sure people are safe and have what they need to shelter in place if appropriate or can be evacuated if necessary.
Hello M569483m! I would reach out to your local/state emergency services. They are aware of mass communications to the community. The American Red Cross may be helpful. I can refer you to our state AARP representatives. I am taking a guess that you are in California, you may call them at 1-866-448-3615. If I have the state wrong, please send me a private message to AARP Main Facebook PM https://m.me/aarp. -Sue J
