Are you good with numbers? Behind the Leaderboard™ Discussion 6

Over the past several weeks, you've met a few of your fellow gamers through our articles and forum discussions. Jeffrey A. @Jfree69, Mary Louise H. @mlou58, Bob J. @BobJ685852, and Donna R. @DonnaR904722 shared with us that they are good with numbers. Are you, and does that tie in with your choice of games played?

Hi Gamers! Here's a question for all you card players out there.

Solitaire players, what's your favorite version of the game? Canfield, Freecell, Golf? Tell us why you love it.

I'm decent with numbers but words are my strong suit, so I naturally gravitate toward the word games. But the thing is, because I use words way more than I use numbers, I can 'feel' my brain 'stretching' more when I play word games. I'm guessing that feeling of stimulation is because I'm using my brain in a way I don't usually use it, whereas I use words all the time (talking, e-mail, reading, which is how I spend most of my leisure time).

OK, fine, maybe I'll start playing Soduku!

Roger that JessicaB! They are pretty good with numbers. Unfortunately, its bogus numbers that they really seem to excel at. I'm like you on the words / numbers thing tho. I would rather sit down with a Sunday crossword than a sudoku. I do like number games but if I had my druthers, crosswords win every time.

I do sudoku and crosswords in the newspaper. Our Sunday paper has harder versions but not impossible ones.   I have a Sudoku app and for the word puzzle, I use a WordBrain app. I'm ok with math, I did well in college.  But a brain training app wanted speed arithmetic so I quit using it.

My favorite games are more visual, like match three, mahjong, jigsaw or Trizzle. I saw an ad for a game called "onnect".  I hope there's an online version.

Thanks so much for chiming in, @Polly2017Waco! I love crossword puzzles, too. I like the newspaper versions, but I usually fill them out online.

I'm new to Trizzle, but I really enjoy it. So fun!

Regan C., one of the Behind the Leaderboard gamers, plays AARP games to help in her recovery process from a brain aneurysm. She tends to play several different games in a session, so she can give her brain a workout.

Gamers, do you prefer to play word or math games? Tell us which ones!

And you can read her story here:

I like word and math based games. Especially if you are running against the clock. Also like games that involve timing / speed / accuracy. Love a good challenge!

They're baaaaaack! Hacker-1 and Hacker-2 running up impossible scores again. If you've ever played Scramble Words, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see these bogus scores. Have a look see!Bogus scores 2.png

Hi, Gamers!

Do we have any card counters in our midst? For you BlackJack players, tell us about a time you played the real thing in a casino.

And don't forget that you can read all of our Behind the Leaderboard profiles here. Like you, they play games to keep their brains active and pass the time. And like you, they have lives beyond their screen time.

I have always been at ease with numbers for as long as I can remember.

That's great! Math was never my strong suit, but I could manage it just fine. It comes in handy when playing card and casino-style games!
