Can I play AARP Games’ Blackjack?

From August 19 to September 12, 2024, Blackjack is available to everyone – not just AARP members. As long as you create (or log in to) a free AARP account, you’ll have access to the game!

How do I play blackjack?

Blackjack is a simple game, but there’s plenty of strategy if you want to dig deep. At its simplest level, you and the dealer start by getting two cards. You can see both your cards, and just one of the dealer’s cards. Your goal is to get your cards to add up to 21, or as close as you can, without going over. After you’re dealt your two cards, you have the option to “stand,” meaning you use your current hand, or “hit,” meaning you receive one more card. You can hit as much as you’d like, but be careful, as you automatically lose if you go over 21!

After you stand, the dealer gets to play their hand. The better hand wins the pot!

What’s the pot?

You’ll start the game with $1,000 in play money. Before your hand is dealt you can bet any amount of your money. After each subsequent card is dealt, you will have the option to double your bet. If you win the hand, you get your money back – and the dealer’s matching bets!

How does the game end?

There are two ways that blackjack can end:

1. If you run out of money in your bank, the game ends.
2. If you click on “menu” and “cash out,” you can submit a score based on the amount of money you have in your bank.

Yes! Click “menu” at the top right of the screen to toggle the following options:

1. Sound on/off
2. Whether the dealer hits on a soft 17
3. Insurance
4. Repeating the last bet
5. Auto-advice
6. The number of decks in play
