Not Not is a game of quick reactions, where you have to move your character one of four directions: up, down, left, or right, based on a prompt.
What is the goal of the game?
The goal of Not Not is to complete levels and unlock more difficult levels, all by getting a certain number of prompts correct without making a mistake.
When do I beat a level?
You beat a level when youโve completed all the prompts without making a mistake. Some levels have 30 prompts, some have 40, and some have even more!
Where do I see my goal and the timer?
On the left side of the screen, while playing, youโll see a timer. Next to it is a number. Every time you match cubes, that many cubes will be removed from the number. Get the number to 0 before the timer runs out to beat the level!
How do I play?
To play Not Not, all you need is a mouse, arrow keys on a keyboard, or your finger to swipe (on a tablet or mobile device). When the level begins, youโll see your stick figure character on a cube. In the middle of the cube, an instruction will pop up, such as โLeft.โ Swipe or click and drag your character to the left. If youโve followed the prompt correctly, youโll get another.
How much time do I get per step?
While you think about what to do, a white line will travel the edges of the cube. Make your move before the white line disappears completely โ if you donโt decide in time, youโll lose a heart.
How do hearts work?
Youโll begin Not Not with five hearts. Every time you lose a level, youโll be given a choice: lose one of your hearts or watch an ad. Youโll be able to keep playing after you make your choice.
The prompts quickly get confusing. How can I remember what to do?
Not Not gets tricky fast โ and thatโs by design. However, some of the most difficult prompts are introduced early in the game and keep coming back. Hereโs a quick cheat sheet, using โupโ as an example:
This is the same for other directions, as well as colors. Later in the game, youโll see prompts like โNot Not Blue,โ but written in yellow. Donโt get thrown by the colors in the clue โ just pay attention to the words!
What if one of the steps tells me to do something I canโt do?
This is on purpose! In later levels, you might get a prompt like โyellow,โ but there are no yellows on the cube. In that case, do nothing.
How are levels structured?
In classic mode, each individual level (other than the introductory level) has three difficulties: normal, which requires you to complete 20 steps; hard, with 30 steps; and extreme, with 40 steps. Youโll need to dive into hard and extreme difficulties to reach the requirements to unlock future levels.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. If you use the same computer/device and browser, you can leave the game and return to it later without losing your overall progress.
What modes are there in Not Not?
There are two modes in Not Not: Classic and Challenge. Classic offers various levels and difficulties, and you progress through the game by beating levels. Challenge Mode offers three difficulties: Normal, Hard, and Extreme. For each, you will get endless steps and your goal is to last as long as possible without making a mistake.
Can I turn off the sound and music in Cubis 2?
Yes. On the main menu screen, click the gear icon. Here, you can toggle the sound on and off.
What else can I do in the settings menu?
In the settings menu, in addition to toggling the sound on and off, you can change the gameโs language and toggle colorblind mode.
