What is Gridland Ultimate?

Gridland Ultimate is a retro-inspired match 3 game where you match tiles to help your stick figure character build settlements during the day – and fight off monsters at night.

What is the goal of the game?

The goal of the game is to build up your settlement during the day and fight monsters at night without losing all your hearts. Survive for as many days as possible!

When do I beat a level?
After you’ve made a certain number of matches during the day, the game will switch to nighttime. Keep matching while using potions, swords, bombs, and more to survive the night. When it’s daytime again, you have beaten the level.

How do I play?

To play Gridland Ultimate, all you have to do is find matches of three or more tiles. Swipe or click and drag one tile with another, and if you’ve created a match, the tiles will disappear and be replaced by new ones. That’s all you have to do… until nighttime.

Is there any advantage to matching more than three tiles at once?

As the game begins, no. But keep playing and you might find a reason to match more than three tiles…

What happens during the day in Gridland Ultimate?

During the day, the screen’s background is white, and your tiles will be things like wood, bricks, and rocks. Match the tiles to create resources that appear in the house above your grid. As you gather more resources, your stick figure will grab them and use them to create buildings. As he creates more buildings, you will get more tile types to match.

What happens at night in Gridland Ultimate?

At night, the tiles shift – now, you can match swords, shields, spiderwebs, and more. You’ll also see a line of hearts appear at the left of the grid, and power ups appear below it. Match swords to gain more attack power and shields to gain defense power. Match everything else to make monsters appear. When they appear, your stick figure will attack them. Occasionally, after defeating a monster, a treasure chest will appear, and your stick figure will open it, revealing a power up. Don’t forget to click on the power up icons below the grid to help your stick figure fight the monster?

What are the power ups that I can use at night?

There are three power ups:

• Health potions that restore your lost hearts
• A sword and shield that fill up your extra attack and shield powers
• A bomb that instantly removes all monsters from the screen

Use these power ups often – you’ll get a lot of refills when you defeat monsters!

Can I have more than three of each power up at one time?

No.

How do I know when it’s about to become day or night?

Watch the sun or the moon at the top of the screen. With each move you make, it will move to the right. When it moves all the way to the right, day will turn to night (or night will turn to day).

Can I manually control my stick figure?

No.

Can I pause the game?
Yes. The pause bottom is in the top-right corner of the screen.

Can I turn off the sound and music in Gridland Ultimate?

Yes. Click the hamburger menu (with three horizontal lines) at the bottom right corner of the screen. There you can use a slider to change the volume of the music and sound effects.

Can I change the difficulty in Gridland Ultimate?

Yes. Click the hamburger menu (with three horizontal lines) at the bottom right corner of the screen. There you can toggle between Easy and Normal Difficulty.

The game ends with a blank screen within about 10 minutes. I can't see the entertainment value - you just click on groups of three endlessly, and supposedly gain hearts, potions to keep clicking? Boring game.

Please be advised, folks.  This game is faulty.  You will reach a level (usually level 3) where the game background will appear as a sunset(?).  There is apparently no way to continue the game from this point.

Sometimes I get a darkened field that has nothing to match. Once it was full night, and once it was like sunset. Is that the end of the game? Or what am I supposed to be doing when this happens?
